[Dane County Executive Joe Parisi has recently come under fire for his lack of communication and for authorizing an excessive use of force in dealing with the Occupy Madison encampment on Lake View Hill County Park. He did not attend a meeting called by local leaders earlier this week which was attended by the Dane County Sheriff and the Madison Mayor, among other elected officials and top county administrators. – Editors]
Dear Joe Parisi,

Oscar P. was given the number 21 on a piece of duct tape to wear so that he could be reunited with his belongings after they were confiscated and “inventoried.” Photo by Rebecca Kemble
Why are you so selective about who you choose to meet with and whose phone calls you take?
Why do you scoop the homeless up and dump them in an isolated park in the country and rescind the offer for transportation?
Why do you spend so much money on forcefully moving the homeless but claim there is not enough money to house everyone?
Why were Dane County parks employees illegally searching and inventorying citizens’ belongings when they were not under arrest?
Thank you for the warming shelter and the money you have put aside for the future.
Please consider using a little compassion and get more personally involved with issues rather than sending your “people” to represent you.
I know you have it in you.
With immense wishes for better communication with you in the immediate future,
Craig Spaulding
