Madison firefighter Ted Higgins was handcuffed and arrested in the Wisconsin Capitol today for participating in the Solidarity Sing Along.
“Our union brothers and sisters from Local 311 came down to sing in solidarity with the workers,” said Higgins. “They’ve already taken away the voice in the workplace from our brothers and sisters. We came to where we believe we do have a voice, which is right here in the Capitol.”

Greetings, as a recovering IWW member and an AFSCME member I would like to point out the union firefighter was arrested by a union brother, they’ll taze you, they’ll cuff you, they’ll cage you, just for the pension, and they will laugh at you for your sacrifice. By the way, I couldn’t tell what they were singing, but if they sang “Solidarity Forever” did they sing all the verses that Ralph Chaplin wrote, or did they sing the AFL-CIA (yes, look it up, they did) version. The ” let’s be nice to the ruling class, folks” omit the verse, “Is there aught we have in common with the geedy parasite, who would lash us into serfdom, who would crush us with his might, is the aught left for us but to organize and fighgt.” For the Union makes us strong. Solidarity. And by the way, I sent a pizza to the folks who sang last year.
