On Monday, March 19, Shirl LaBarre of Hayward, WI and Dan Curran of Dodgeville, WI filed recall papers against Senator Bob Jauch (D-Poplar) and started an exploratory committee for the recall of Senator Dale Schultz (R-Richland Center). In the statement of intent on the Jauch recall papers, LaBarre wrote:
“Senator Jauch voted against a Mining Bill SB/488/AB426 which would of (sic) brought 100’s if not thousands of jobs to the northland and state of Wisconsin. He refused to listen to the majority of his constituents instead
votingbowing to political pressure and special interest.”

Joining LaBarre and Curran was Orville Seymer, Field Operations Director for Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG) Network. He stood in the background, watching as Curran and LaBarre spoke to the press. When asked what his role in this was, he told me he was with the CRG Network, pronouncing it “serg.” He went on to say that CRG helps groups interested in starting recalls. According to Seymer, the CRG Network has started thirty recalls in the past ten years, not all of which were successful. When asked if he supported any of the other current Wisconsin recalls, he said no.

Don’t you just love LaBarre’s horrible grammar in her written statement?
Don’t write a check with your mouth that your brain can’t cash, Shirl “I lost my ‘ey'” Lebarre.
So a Senator voting against a bill based on environmental concerns is bowing to political pressure and special interests, but a bill written by a Mining company, written so that standards are removed, making it impossible to hold said mining company accountable is not special interest. Never mind that the legal battles of the tribal treaties would have delayed or denied these promised jobs.
That stupid mining bill wasn’t going anywhere. What is wrong with people? It was so poorly written that the Army Corp of Engineers weighed in a week before the vote and said “pass what you want, but we have the final say.” The encroachment on tribal territories alone would have landed it in federal court. Gogebic sure wasted no time hitting the road. LeBarre and Curran live in a fairy world where jobs are created by simply putting aside every single ounce of understanding of the world that surrounds them.
