The Seville Office of the Environment has formally filed written charges, similar to an indictment, against Bill Williams for crimes against the environment and criminal damage to the public domain.

The charges allege that Williams and his co-defendants, who were employed as managers at the Cobre las Cruces mine in Seville, willfully violated permit conditions which then led to the poisoning of an aquifer.

Prosecutor Yolanda  Ortiz Mallol is requesting that Williams serve prison terms of four years and one and a half years, respectively. The Office of the Environment also is seeking fines totaling €11,700.

WCMC has received court documents outlining the charges. Bill Williams’s co-defendants are subject to the same fines and jail sentences if convicted.

The charges were filed with a magistrate in Seville on January 7, 2014.

Although this fine could be minuscule compared to their profits, I sure hope they put this Bill Williams away for a long, long time….and in Spain!
These mining/fracking companies spew lies, pollute our environment & water and then get a hand-slap.
Clean-up costs are paid for with our tax dollars, while they walk away with billions in profit.
